For several years now Oak Harbor has been pushing out the Pioneer Way improvement project and now this weekend the ground was broke on the newest landscaping venture. whidbey island homes

The historic downtown restoration project has begun the redesign of the street that has been in the works for years. During the groundbreaking ceremony local residents and wildlife showed up to show their support including a majestic Whidbey Island native Bald Eagle that made a grand slow swoop across the crowd.

The redesign will be to convert the street into an eastbound one way but business owners have long since debated that the work around could cost them business. But now, there were no protestors, only fans in support of the project. Most businesses and council members feel this will be a benefit for the area.

Oak Harbor has long been the pillar of township on Whidbey Island. The town is centrally located and is home to most amenities a Whidbey Island resident could want.
