Langley is south Whidbey Island's "Tourist Destination".

It is the only incorporated city on the south end of the Island. With it's laid-back, friendly atmosphere, wide variety of boutiques, bakeries and cuisine choices, plus a five star Inn and many Bed and Breakfast's, Langley is a weekender's dream. The marina is always open, and it's an easy walk from the water to town. Many of Langley's community activities are planned to make Langley a destination spot. Take in a play at the Center for the Arts, the Gallery Artwalk, sign up for the Poetry Slam at the Doghouse Tavern, or take in Choochokam, a weekend-long music festival featuring local and regional artists, food and fun.

Langley hosts the Island County Fair, and annually hosts Mystery Weekend, where visitors and locals alike try to solve a "live" murder mystery, and the solutions are presented by nationally renowned mystery writers.

Langley is also South Whidbey's academic center. The elementary, middle, and high schools are located there. The South Whidbey School District also operates some alternative programs to traditional school.

Properties in the Langley area range from subdivisions or "planned residential developments" (homes on large lots with acreage set aside for common areas), to cabins in the woods, or custom waterfront homes to live-above apartments "downtown". Also within Langley's "sphere of influence" is the Useless Bay Golf and Country Club, with 18 holes, tennis, swimming pool, and beach access.
