The Island has many towns, communities and villages up and down the coastline and inland. The biggest city is Oak Harbor located toward the north end of the island. Oak Harbor is home  to about 23,000 residents and many beautiful waterfront homes and view homes  line the coast of Whidbey Island.

Other towns include Clinton located at the southern tip which is a small community housing the ferry dock for the Mukilteo Ferry. Langley is located on the east side and offers beautiful views of the Cascade Mountains as well as beautiful beaches and crabbing and fishing.  Freeland is a small community in the crux of Whidbey Island's center and in the Holmes Harbor area. This is perfect for fishing and beachcombing.

Greenbank is a notch in the road north up the island and offers spectacular views of Camano Island to the east. Most residents of Greenbank often see eagles soaring among the trees and banks on both sides of the island's. Fort Casey and Ebey's Landing are nestled in the middle of Whidbey Island and offer the ferry to Port Townsend and dozens of outdoor activities such as hikes, fishing, camping and beach combing.  Coupeville is located in Ebey's Landing tucked into Penn Cove.
